Different Types of Eczema

Atopic Eczema

Atopic eczema is more common in infants and children while some adults also seem to suffer from this skin condition. Its causes can be attributed to genes as such families mostly have known history of allergies such as asthma or hay fever. Its symptoms include red dry itchy skin which come and go. By taking enough preventive care such as keeping the eczema prone area well moisturized and avoiding known triggers gives a lot of relief to the sufferers of atopic eczema.

Seborrheic eczema

Seborrheic eczema is another type of eczema whose causes are yet unknown. This affects infants in the form of cradle cap and adults in the form of dandruff. Face, Neck and scalp are usually affected by this condition. Its symptoms include yellow, oily, scaly patches of skin in the face, scalp or in other parts of the body.

Contact Eczema

Contact Eczema or Contact dermatitis is a condition where allergic reactions are caused due to skin coming in contact with allergens or irritants. Its symptoms include itching, redness and even burning in some cases. The irritants or allergens may include harsh chemicals in detergents, soaps, lotions or creams etc.

Dyshidrotic Eczema

Dyshidrotic Eczema primarily affects the hands or feet. Its symptoms include dry itchy skin and also blisters. This condition equally affects both men and women.

Nummular Eczema

Nummular eczema most commonly affects typically on arms, legs or chest in the form of a round coin like patch.It usually affects adults and it can arise as a result of allergic reaction to a fungal infection.
