Hats and Headgear for Health and Fashion

Social etiquette and formality have influenced hat wearing in modern times. At the turn of the 20th century in 1900, both men and women changed their hats dependant on their activity, but for many ladies of some social standing it would be several times a day. Several decades ago it was considered disgraceful act to go out of ones residence without a hat. Many people consider hats help them to get ahead and get noticed. Wearing hats in cold countries have a scientific reason also. It is estimated that about 85% of body heat is lost through the head. So it is healthy to wear a hat or proper headgear when you go out in the cold weather. The same rule applies for babies and children. Special occasions sometimes require you to wear a special hat. Readily available hats that are mass produced sometimes are not appropriate. In these situations, the creation of custom-made hats is necessary. However, the prices these hats vary, often on the higher side, depending on the type of hat one wants to buy. With the growing popularity of hats, the best way for one to maintain his or her individuality is to have their own custom hat created for them. A person can have a wide variety of hats created for just them. There is a certain appeal for some people to know that the hat they own is one of a kind, and no one else in the world can have one just like it. Those who are less conscious of h
aving special looks can always buy the types they want from the readymade market. Men s hats greatly differ from hats usually worn by ladies who may wear it as a symbol of the current fashion. It may also be worn as a part of status symbol. In contrary, men usually choose different types of hats suitable to the occasion or according to the type of work they are going to engage in or as per the weather conditions. However, the importance of hats as signifying a particular status symbol in society is decreasing. Although a lot of people are wearing them, they do it for various other reasons such as to look fashionable, to cover their baldness or to protect themselves from the elements. Certain types of caps such as the baseball cap or cowboy hats become popular among the youth or older generation in tune with changing trends. Some hats, such as the policeman s hat, are used to symbolize authority. There are certain hats that serve as practical and fashionable purposes. Hats like cowboy hats and baseball hats can serve both functional and symbolic purposes. They can protect the wearer from the elements and are also worn in professions that require them in outdoor work. Custom-made hats have always signified individuality, creativity, and style to those who wear them. People sometimes find it unappealing the see another person wearing the exact same hat her or she is wearing.
